Patti Rodgers Morrisette for 2nd Ward Commissioner

Meet Patti Rodgers Morrisette, candidate for Commissioner in the 2nd Ward of Ridley Township.

Patti was born and raised in Ridley and has lived in the Swarthmorewood section of the Township for 61 years.

Patti's professional experience includes working as a top producing Realtor for the past 20 years, the last 17 with Long & Foster Real Estate - Media. Before real estate, Patti worked for Raytheon as an executive assistant to the Chief Financial Officer for many years. She later obtained her Series 6 and 63 licenses and worked in the investment field for Delaware Management and Lincoln Investment Planning.

She is a longtime member of Saint John Chrysostom Roman Catholic Church (SJC) in Wallingford. She volunteers her time as a Eucharistic Minister for Crozer Hospital, where she regularly visits patients. She is a former Board Member and tee-ball coach for Swarthmorewood Athletic Association. Patti also coached CYO softball at St. John Chrysostom. She is passionate about giving back to the community and actively participates in Long and Foster's Community Service team. Patti is a longtime supporter of the Friends of Alexander Deihl. This non-profit organization provides aid and assistance to children throughout the country who are chronically or terminally ill.

Patti serves on the Delaware County Board of View, Delaware County Services for the Aging (COSA) Advisory Board, Ridley Township Economic Development Committee, and was part of the Delaware County Women's Commission from 2015-2020.

When asked about a community project, program, or accomplishment she's particularly proud of, Patti shared the following: "As a member of the Women's Commission until July 2020, I was incredibly proud of our joint project with Neumann University and MVP Recovery to bring clothing, toiletries, and personal items to females in MVP's drug/alcohol recovery program," she said. "It was powerful to see the joy in their faces and how appreciative these young women were. The journey through recovery can be challenging, and sometimes a little effort and genuine support to let someone know you care go a long way."

As an Advisory Board Member for the Delaware County Services for the Aging (COSA), Patti takes great pride in helping our senior population. Through her work with COSA, she has helped seniors and their families navigate the system and promptly receive the services they need. "Many of our seniors are very proud of their independence. They don't like to have to ask for help. So when they do, they are typically in a difficult situation and need help right away," Patti said. "To have to sometimes wait for approvals for over 30, 60, or in some cases 90 days is unacceptable."

Patti is an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loves watching the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles, and college basketball teams. She also enjoys spending time with her family and a great group of friends and neighbors.

We asked Patti for a "fun fact" that most people may not know about her: "I made a vision board several years back, and it truly worked," she said. "In addition to other goals for the year, I put a photo of Chase Utley on my board -- he's my favorite baseball player. That year, I randomly meet Chase at a game, and he signed my jersey."

Finally, what makes Patti pRoud to be from Ridley? "We could live anywhere, and we still choose to live in Ridley Township. We love the sense of community and feeling of pride deeply rooted throughout the Township. Ridley has many great programs for our youth, a first-class library, activities for every age through our parks and recreation department, police officers that come second to none, and hardworking, dedicated educators throughout our School District," she said. "Ridley sports programs continue to exceed expectations year over year, with selfless parents that continually volunteer and give of their time and talents. I grew up here and my parents were very active in the Township; I was brought up to do the same and have passed that along to my children. Ridley has never lost that 'neighborhood' feeling. Ridley residents are the best around, and I'm very proud to call Ridley and Swarthmorewood my hometown!"
